Award", country's most prestigious award for civilian citizen
for his out standing contribution to the field of literature.
About this Website
Jayanta Mahapatra, began writing
poems rather late in comparison with his contemporaries. But this late beginning
does not in anyway distort his achievement.
The "richness and sophistication of language, the softness and delicacy of the words chosen",
are representative of Jayanta's poetry. Even though the poet is widely read
across the globe, the current cyber presence of his works are very limited,
where as there was a ever growing demand by his readers to create an online
database on the poet's life and works which can can be easily accessible to all.
Looking at this need this site has been hosted as a faithful attempt to
spotlight the poet, truthfully portraying his life and vision.
